Water is by far the most important natural resource in the world. Our  body can go about 3 weeks without food, however it cannot endure for more than 3 days without water.

It is needed for every bodily function and the body needs a certain amount of water to function well.  80% of the human brain has water, blood constitutes 83% water, the lungs 79% and muscles 76%. All in all, the human body is composed of about 75% water. Every function in the body is dependent on water.

Since water transports hormones, chemicals and nutrients vital to efficient organ function. Without water we would not be able to digest and absorb nutrients and our kidneys would fail from toxicity.

Water is, in fact, an elixir.

Following  is list of  8 diseases that water can help avoid and reverse

Arthritis means joint inflammation, but the term can also be used to  describe more than  200 conditions that affect our joints, the tissues near the joint, and other connecting tissues. Arthritis affects more to adults aged 60 years or older, but it can also affect people of all ages.

Conditions causing arthritis include injury,  abnormal metabolism, infections, and immune problems.

The pain and discomfort caused by arthritis varies from a minor trouble  to a full-blown disability. Huge money is spent on anti-inflammatory and pain killers that often have deadly side effects.

Reducing weight and adding physical activities like walking, cycling, and swimming can help people with arthritis in the long term.

Nutrition is very important not eating inflammation causing foods like animal protein, refined sugar having high purine exacerbate the symptoms.

Kidneys and livers are responsible for flushing the toxins from our body. If we are dehydrated these toxins can accumulate in muscles and joints worsening the situation. So being hydrated is of primary importance to people suffering from joints.

The other crucial thing that people with arthritis can do is to make sure that their joints are lubricated properly, and water can do this. Water  lubricates joints thus  reduces the friction that causes pain.

Gout, a form of arthritis, is also significantly improved with an adequate consumption of water. Adequate water consumption removes uric acid and other toxins from joints causing swelling and pain.

Osteoporosis  is a condition where bones become too weak and brittle — so brittle that a fall or  bending  can cause a fracture. The most common injuries include wrist, hip and spinal bones.

With aging bones loss also increases. However with regular exercise and nutrition like calcium and vitamin D risk can be greatly reduced.

Men with lower testosterone are prone to osteoporosis however women have greater risk  due to hormonal changes after menopause.

Exercise greatly reduces the risk of osteoporosis adults should do 30 minutes of physical activity daily.

High-impact exercises, such as running, aerobics, and jumping jacks, are very useful to strengthen your ligaments, muscles and joints. Exercise also increases bone density thus reducing the chance of osteoporosis.

Since water is responsible for the transport of minerals both to and away from our bones, water bridges therefore contribute towards chain stabilization.

Water not only helps prevent it but it can also help sufferers cope better.

Heart Disease

Heart disease is a general name for a number of diseases and conditions that negatively affect the heart and blood vessels.

The heart is composed of muscle tissue that needs a continuous supply of oxygen in order to pump blood effectively all over the body.

Heart diseases can damage the coronary arteries, which transport oxygen-rich blood to the heart. Coronary artery disease causes most heart attacks.

Heart diseases and dehydration

Dehydration can negatively impact your vital organs and bodily functions, including cardiovascular system and heart. When dehydrated your amount of blood circulating in your body, reduces.

To make up, your heart beats faster, thus increasing heart rate and blood pressure. Also, when dehydrated, your blood retains more sodium, thickening your blood and making it harder for your blood to circulate.

Keeping your body hydrated helps your heart pump blood more easily and allows oxygen to reach your muscles, which helps the muscles work efficiently.

Those most at risk for dehydration are the elderly, people with chronic illnesses, children and athletes. Dehydration can be a serious condition that can lead to problems ranging from swollen feet or a headache to life-threatening conditions such as heart attack or heat stroke.

Eating primarily a plant-based, whole-foods diet is the best way to prevent and reverse heart disease. The following are simple tips for eating foods and drinking enough water for heart health: Drink half your body weight in ounces of water daily.

According to a research study to find the connection between high water intake and reduced risk of coronary heart disease. By drinking more plain water, healthy people reduced their risk of dying from a heart attack by half or more.

Chronic constipation is few bowel movements or difficult passage of stools that persists more than a week or longer. Though infrequent constipation is very common, some people experience chronic constipation that can affect their ability to do their daily tasks.

The cause of constipation can be caused by a number of things. For some people, the discomfort of constipation becomes so great that they reach for over-the-counter medications for relief. Unfortunately, most of these medications only mask the symptoms and don’t cure the underlying cause.

It is advised to consume a diet that is rich in  fiber but it is very important to consume sufficient amounts of water too. Water helps rid the body of toxins and  it also supports healthy digestion. When we are properly hydrated, less water will be taken from the colon – leaving stools softer and easier to pass thus reducing pain.

Sedentary lifestyles cause constipation. One of the best choices of exercise for constipation relief is a brisk 20 minute walk. Make walking a daily habit by taking a stroll after dinner.

High blood pressure is a condition in which the long-term force of the blood against your artery walls is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease.Blood pressure is determined both by the amount of blood your heart pumps and the amount of resistance to blood flow in your arteries.

Many people with high blood pressure don’t even know it. Of course such things as reducing weight, adopting a healthy diet and exercise helps reduce blood pressure  but it’s equally very  important it is to hydrate properly.

Patients with High blood pressure are often prescribed blood thinners to thin the blood, diuretics for urination and calcium channel blockers to prevent the muscles from squeezing blood vessels. But, drinking water  makes you urinate and thin the blood, which reduces blood pressure.

Without enough water the body hangs on to sodium to preserve fluids. Dehydration puts a pressure on both capillaries and arteries which increases blood pressure. So, drinking adequate water is important to avoid hypertension.

Skin Issues

Skin is the body’s largest organ and is composed of cells that are made up of water. Many skin conditions such as dry, flaky or blotchy skin may be caused by dehydration. Without sufficient water in the long run, skin can age prematurely and develop wrinkles.

When your skin looks puffy, it is retaining water to protect your body from dehydration. This happens when you don’t drink the required amount of water. Drinking enough water will reduce swelling and puffiness on the face.

Drinking adequate water helps you maintain a healthy gut and aids in digestion. It also regulates healthy bowel movements, and flushes toxins through urine and faeces. Healthy gut is then responsible for  smooth skin and reducing skin problems.

Sleep Disturbances

One in three people suffer from some kind of sleep disorders. A huge number of people turn to prescription and over-the-counter sleeping pills to reduce sleep issues. An adequate water intake is useful  to reduce inflammation which interferes with deep sleep. When combined with a healthy diet, stress management and exercise, it is easy to develop a healthy sleeping routine avoiding dangerous pills.

Kidney Stones

When you eat a meal high in salt, it decreases your urine output. The reason is that water is retained by the extra sodium.

But a consistent high sodium intake will cause a steady water retention and stable weight gain and the extra water will appear in the urine. In fact, when you lower the salt intake you become less thirsty so you need to remember drinking.

Hot and humid or hot and dry weather will make you sweat more. If you sweat more, you become more prone to be dehydrated, and being dehydrated reduces your urine volume and makes you more prone to form kidney stones. So if you are living in a hot and humid environment you need to drink more to compensate.

An adequate supply of water helps to keep the kidneys function properly. Kidneys, liver and urinary tract, are the organs helping the body remove toxic materials. Bacteria and proteins build up leads to kidney stones to form – these are very painful.

If you drink adequate water, it may also help in removing the kidney stone. More water intake means more urine, thus excess salts and minerals are removed out of the body. Excess salts cannot cling to the kidney stone thus stops stone growth.

If you have kidney stones  you need to drink about 3-4 litres of water every day.

Thus water is the most important ingredient for a healthy and fulfilling life. Depriving our body with this elixir will not only increase the chance of diseases it can be fatal in the long run. So drink daily 3-4 liters of water and improve your well being.
